Prince paid no heed to royal protocols!

One of Britain’s youngest royals, Prince Louis grabbed all the attention last weekend during his great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee celebrations. The youngest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton won hearts all over the world as the four-year-old paid no heed to royal protocols and made faces during the parade even as his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge tried to make him sit in one place.

The royal family in Britain, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, came together to celebrate 70 years of the Queen’s reign in a four-day-long gala event.

On the final day of the celebration, during the parade, at the royal box, Louis’s goofy face and general excitement and sometimes bored look went instantly viral. He was seated next to his elder sister, Princess Charlotte, and his mother Kate Middleton. At one point Kate could be seen asking her four-year-old to sit properly but the little one instead chose to stick out his tongue to his mom.

A floating city in the Maldives!

Just 10 minutes by boat from the Maldivian capital, Male, a floating city large enough to accommodate 20,000 people is under construction. The reason for this is the risk to the Maldives due to the rapid rise in sea level.

Designed in the shape of a brain-shaped coral reef, the city has 5,000 floating units, including homes, restaurants, shops, and schools, including canals. The first units will be unveiled this month, with residents starting to move in early 2024 and the entire city is expected to be completed by 2027.

This project is a joint venture between the Government of the Maldives and another joint venture. The city was built as a practical solution to the harsh reality of sea-level rise.

The Maldives, an archipelago of 1,190 low-lying islands, is one of the world’s most vulnerable to climate change. 80% of its land area is less than a meter above sea level, and by the end of the century, levels are forecast to rise to one meter, thus flooding almost the entire country. But if a city floats, it can rise with the sea. The founder of Waterstudio, the architecture firm that designed the city, told foreign media that this was a “new hope” for more than half a million people in the Maldives.
