Toxic Distillery Owner, Johnston is in bad books of Gota

The Excise Department has launched an investigation into the sale of liquor unfit for human consumption by Royal and Synergy Distilleries, two distilleries owned by former Minister Johnston Fernando.
The Excise Department is conducting these investigations based on complaints received that the liquor issued by the liquor factories owned by the former Minister is substandard. However, information received by us earlier revealed that the investigation had been halted and that although the liquor was banned, it had not been referred to the Government Analyst. Our correspondents also revealed that the trade union movement was even prepared for union activity in this regard.
However, after the introduction of the standards for liquor, the sale of liquor from the two factories was banned, according to reports received after the liquor samples obtained from the market were sent to the taster.
Two factories were set on fire and destroyed during the riots on May 09. The two factories are already sealed and are in the process of recalling products released to the market. Tests have revealed that the alcohol contained even the chemical used to disinfect it.
liquor shop owners’ association says the licenses of companies that issue substandard liquor should be revoked.
Earlier it was reported that minister Johnston had misappropriated funds for the expressways during his tenure as the Minister of Highways and that millions of rupees had been misused for the opening ceremony of the Athugalpura Expressway.
A trade union representative told Lanka C News that the trade unions at the Ministry of Highways are not raising their voices regarding such fraudulent activities because the trade union leaders are also acting in obedience to Minister Johnston’s money.
Attempts by former Minister Johnston Fernando to mislead President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on several occasions, abuse government powers, and cover up his misdeeds are now in vain.
We learned that President was deeply displeased with Johnston for the provocation of the people who came to Temple Trees on May 9.
However, the two liquor companies owned by Minister Johnston Fernando have failed to pay Rs. 1500 billion to the Excise Department. trade unions and liquor shop owners association says to point out that legal action should be taken.

A floating city in the Maldives!

Just 10 minutes by boat from the Maldivian capital, Male, a floating city large enough to accommodate 20,000 people is under construction. The reason for this is the risk to the Maldives due to the rapid rise in sea level.
Designed in the shape of a brain-shaped coral reef, the city has 5,000 floating units, including homes, restaurants, shops, and schools, including canals. The first units will be unveiled this month, with residents starting to move in early 2024 and the entire city is expected to be completed by 2027.
This project is a joint venture between the Government of the Maldives and another joint venture. The city was built as a practical solution to the harsh reality of sea-level rise.
The Maldives, an archipelago of 1,190 low-lying islands, is one of the world’s most vulnerable to climate change. 80% of its land area is less than a meter above sea level, and by the end of the century, levels are forecast to rise to one meter, thus flooding almost the entire country. But if a city floats, it can rise with the sea. The founder of Waterstudio, the architecture firm that designed the city, told foreign media that this was a “new hope” for more than half a million people in the Maldives.
