Undergraduates Accused Of Ragging Further Remanded: Mobiles To Be Inspected

The fifteen students of the Agriculture Faculty of the University of Peradeniya, arrested in connection with a ragging incident, have been further remanded till March 16 after being produced at the Kandy Magistrates Court.

When the case was taken up for hearing police informed Court that investigations were being conducted to determine if the mobile phones of the 15 students contained any nude videos or images of the students who were subject to the ragging on their mobile phones.

The second year undergraduates were apprehended when a house was raided in Galaha by the Disciplinary Unit of the University and the police after university’s proctor received a tip-off that eight junior students of the Agriculture Department were being subjected to ragging inside the house.
