Two more suspects who had allegedly owned the van used in the Kalutara prison bus shooting have been arrested.

The suspects include a 48-year-old resident of Bandaragama and 51-year-old resident of Moratuwa.

Two suspects were arrested for hiding the van used to transport the suspects on the day of the shooting. The van was stolen from Seeduwa on the 2nd of  February, and had proceeded to change the number plates and prepare the van for the prison bus shooting. After the shooting had taken place, the two individuals had then changed the number plate, once again, to its original registered number.

Police investigations revealed the two had taken the clothes the suspects were wearing and burnt them in Kidelpitiya. Police had also found a pair of shoes, six pairs of boots and several forged number plates following information revealed by the suspects upon questioning.

One of the suspects arrested is believed to have been arrested by the TID in 2011, over the possession of a T-56 firearms and for planning on carrying out potential terror activities.

The two suspects will be produced before Court today.
