The Chennai state administration is busily making final preparations for AIADMK Chief V K Sasikala’s swearing-in ceremony at the centenary hall of the University of Madras, the most favourite venue of late CM J Jayalalithaa.

The party had directed all AIADMK MPs, except Sasikala Pushpa, a leader expelled from the party by late Jayalalithaa, to reach Chennai for the swearing-in ceremony, which is expected to be held either on Tuesday or Thursday.

“We are yet to get the final travel plan of Governor Rao’s arrival from Delhi,” said a senior official.

Tamil Nadu Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, who is in the national capital, on Monday accepted Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam’s resignation and requested him and his Council of Ministers to continue to function until alternative arrangements are made.

Since the Governor is not in the State and his tour schedule was not available, Ms. Sasikala may have to wait for his return to stake claim to form the Government. Therefore, Sasikala swearing-in depends on travel plans of Governor.
