Australians started the Test Series with Sri Lanka as World No. 1. What have they achieved so far? Will they be able to save their position? Will Sri Lanka create a new page in Cricket History? Will wait and see the answers to these questions till they end the series.
Already Sri Lanka has won the series. They may be looking for a whitewash against Australia today. Will Sri Lanka make any mistake?
In nearly 140 years of Test cricket, Australia have played 177 series of three or more matches and only four times have they been whitewashed. They are 0-3 to England in 1886, 0-4 to South Africa in 1969-70, 0-3 to Pakistan in 1982-83 and and 0-4 to India in 2012-13.
This is a rare opportunity for Sri Lanka as well. Prior to this, only three times they have swept teams 3-0. Two of those came against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. The other was against a declining West Indies in 2001.
Already Australia is struggling against spin attack of Sri Lanka. So, Sri Lanka has a good chance of reaching their target.
