South Africa 297/6 (90 overs) – Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field

South Africa has not made any changes for the second test against Sri Lanka.  The same victories team is playing in the today’s game too.  Sri Lanka has made two changes.  Upul Tharanga replaces Kusal Perera and Lahiru Kumara comes in for Dushmantha Chameera in today’s match.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka sought benefit from a good bowling day. Elgar scored 129 off 230.  Q De Kock is not out at 61.

Lahiru Kumara took 3 wickets for 77 and Suranga Lakmal took 46. Suranga Lakmal carried the most threat for Sri Lanka with the new ball.

South Africans maybe feeling happy with their decent score at the end of the day.  They were tottering before lunch when Kumara picked up a brace in the same over, but Dean Elgar’s hundred anchored the recovery. He was aided by De Kock, who has reached the close unbeaten, and South Africa will hope their lower order can push them towards 400.

Sri Lanka had their moments with the ball but, again, there was some odd captaincy by Angelo Mathews although he was hampered by Nuwan Pradeep leaving the field
