Over 12,000 Buses Deployed For May Day – All Expressways Toll-Free

The government has decided to waive off expressway toll fees for buses on May 01 and 0ver 12,000 buses will be deployed to transport the working class community who will be celebrating May Day, the WORKERS’ DAY.

According to SLCTB sources, 5,000 buses will be deployed after the necessary payments made to transport WORKERS for rallies organized by the main political parties.

The Lanka Private Bus Operators Association will also deploy over 7,000 buses to transport WORKERS for the May Day rallies organized by political parties and trade unions.

The Railway Department said that a political party had booked two special trains to travel from Kurunegala to Kandy.

All expressways will be toll-free on May 1 for buses transporting passengers in view of the May Day. The buses will be allowed to travel free of charge along expressways for 24 hours starting from 12 midnight on April 30.

This decision has been taken to provide transport facilities to the WORKERS those who attend May Day celebrations.
