UPFA MP for Kalutara Vidura Wickremanayake states that he has reversed his decision to resign from his parliamentary seat after taking into consideration of his supporters.

Vidura Wickremanayake, the son of late Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake is a supporter of the Joint Opposition as well.  He recently made a statement that he would take an important political decision very soon and had hinted at possibly giving up his MP seat.

He had convened a Horana SLFP electoral board meeting yesterday (21) in order to reach a decision on the matter.

At the meeting, the MP announced his intention to resign from his parliamentary seat as he was disappointed by the prevailing political system in the country.  When he inquired from the supporters assembled there regarding their opinion on the subject, they strongly opposed the decision.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Wickremenayake said that since his supporters believe that his parliamentary seat would serve them, he had to change his decision respecting the opinion of the supporters.
