More Than 7,000 Motorists Charged For Violating Lane Rules

Sri Lanka Police states that more than 7,000 motorists have been charged for violating traffic lane rules enforced in and around Colombo since June 12.

The Police launched special traffic operations on June 12 to arrest the drivers who violated lane rules in Colombo and its suburbs.

According to Police, 7,456 motorists have been charged for violating lane rules during operations. Meanwhile 1,674 motorist were also charged for traffic violations such as driving under the influence of liquor and reckless driving.

Police stated that they hoped to enforce the traffic lane rule in future too, with the aim of minimizing traffic congestion in the city of Colombo.
