The price of kerosene has been reduced by Rs.5 with effect from midnight (10th January) as per the Budgetary proposal, the Finance Ministry said.
Accordingly, the price of a litre of kerosene will be reduced from Rs 49 to Rs 44. The ministry stated that Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has been notified regarding the price amendment which will come into effect at midnight today. The Government had proposed an Rs. 5 reduction in the price of a litre of kerosene through the 2017 budget proposal, which was passed in the parliament in December.
There was a criticism among the people why this was not effective from 01st January while other proposals were effective.
