Former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP Suresh Premachandran says that the Leader of the Opposition R. Sampanthan and TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran should resign from the Steering Committee formed to introduce a new Constitution to Sri Lanka.

He also suggests that TNA should recommence negotiations with the Government.  The former MP said the Tamil people were displeased with the two representatives for remaining silent when the government has assured that the Northern and Eastern provinces will not be unified and Buddhism will be given prominence.

He further stated that he had written to both representatives to renegotiate with the government to change its stance. He said that Tamils in Sri Lanka expect the unification of the North and East and system that devolves power to preserve the rights of minorities.
