Former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Anura Senanayake and Former Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Crimes Unit of the Narahenpita Police Sumith Perera arrested and remanded on charges of concealing evidence in the murder case of National rugby player and Havelocks rugger captain Wasim Thajudeen have been further remanded till the 19th of January.
The order was issued by Colombo Additional Magistrate Jerome Trotsky this morning. Tabling facts in Court Deputy Solicitor General Dilan Ratnayake said that investigations had revealed that an unidentified person had travelled in the back seat of Wasim Thajudeen’s vehicle on the day he was found dead
The Deputy Solicitor General informed Court that a statement should be recorded from the Former OIC of the Narahenpita Crimes Unit Sumith Perera with regard to this new discovery.
