Chinese Flight Arrives Sri Lanka With Disaster Relief Goods

A chartered flight carrying emergency humanitarian disaster relief goods, donated by the Chinese Government has arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The relief items were officially handed over to the Sri Lankan government by Chinese Ambassador Yi Xianliang and were accepted by Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake and Disaster Management Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa at the airport.

The Red Cross Society of China also granted emergency humanitarian cash assistance to the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society for their disaster relief efforts.

Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese in Sri Lanka have also provided help to the disaster affected people through donation and other ways.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has thanked the Chinese government and its people for their assistance to flood-hit families in the country.  Sri Lankan President also stated that China and Sri Lanka have shared a long lasting friendship which would only continue to be further strengthened.
