Bangkok’s famous Red Light District has turned black out of respect for the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The country has gone into a period of mourning for one year after his death.

Tourists travelling to Thailand for holiday have been confronted with empty streets and shops closed for business.  Streets usually packed with nightlife have become deserted, with tourists saying only pharmacies are open at night. The entertainment industry is under orders to tone down following the death of the world’s longest-reigning monarch, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, on Thursday.
