Adverse Weather Condition: Death Toll Rises To 211

Death toll due to the adverse weather condition in 15 districts has risen to 211 today the Sri Lanka Disaster Management Center said.

Majority of the deaths were reported from the Ratnapura District. 86 people from Rathnapura lost their lives due to floods and landslides. 65 people from the Kalutara district lost their lives over the past two weeks while 37 deaths were reported from the Matara district.

Furthermore, 91 individuals are still missing and the number of individuals affected has risen to 704,815.

Search and rescue missions are underway.

The Centre for Disaster Management says water levels of rivers are gradually receding and approaching normal levels. Deputy Director Pradeep Kodippili stated that floods have receded in many areas of the island, including all highways.
